Summary

One woman's hilarious and fascinating quest to expose the truth behind fraudulent Twitter romance scammers beware, you have met your match! Online romance fraud is a problem across the globe。 It causes financial and emotional devastation, yet many people refuse to take it seriously。 This is the story of one middle-aged woman in a cardigan determined to understand this growing phenomenon。  No other woman has had so many online romances – from Keanu Reeves to Brad Pitt to Prince William – and Becky Holmes is a favourite among peacekeeping soldiers and oil rig workers who desperately need iTunes vouchers。 By winding up scammers and investigating the truth behind their profiles, Becky shines a revealing, revolting and hilarious light on a very shady corner of the internet。  Featuring first-hand accounts of victims, examples of scripts used by fraudsters, a look into the psychology of fraud and of course plenty of Becky’s hysterical interactions with scammers, this is a must-read for anyone who needs a reminder that Keanu Reeves is NOT in love with them。

I have followed Becky on X for a while, her posts are so witty。 This book did not disappoint, I read it and laughed a lot, it does, however, carry a serious message, we are all capable of being scammed!

What an absolutely brilliant book。 A deep-dive into male romance scammers。 I learnt so much! And there are so many crossovers between the workings of romance scammers and domestic abusers, it's really fascinating。 And the victim blaming we do as a society! Horrific。 I'm never going to say that someone 'fell for' a scam again, I'm going to say that a scam happened to them。 These horrible scammers are so good at what they do, and they are excellent at finding vulnerabilities in their victims, it's What an absolutely brilliant book。 A deep-dive into male romance scammers。 I learnt so much! I'd love to see it become a bestseller。 。。。more

BRAVO! That was incredible and left me wanting more。 I am so thankful to Unbounders and Becky Holmes for granting me early access to this gorgeous gem before it hits shelves on January 25, 2024! Becky Holmes takes readers on a ride of a lifetime as she breaks down the vastly popular world of online romance fraud with real-world examples from her own love life, narratives from real people, and advice and insistence on how to eradicate some scammers from being successful both on a personal and legal level。 Holmes chats with 'The Real Keanu Reeves' and 'The Unofficial Fan Page of Brad Pitt' amongst other totally real, and definitely not fake celebrities who are pining after Google Play and Amazon gift cards to help their totally real and not fake cause。 Because that's believable。 But a majority of the people fall for scams like these and dish out thousands of dollars to these scammers every day, and it's awareness like this book that means to spread the word and put a stop to such scams。 。。。more

I've followed Becky on Twitter for some time, and as a result pre-ordered Keanu Reeves is Not In Love With You on Unbound some time ago。 It was absolutely worth the wait, and I've enjoyed every minute with the book, even if some areas have left me wanting。If you're familiar with Becky, you'll find her sense of humour throughout, making this a joy to read。 However, there does seem to be a bit of a disjoint between the balance of humour and the seriousness of the subjects being discussed here。 Bec I've followed Becky on Twitter for some time, and as a result pre-ordered Keanu Reeves is Not In Love With You on Unbound some time ago。 It was absolutely worth the wait, and I've enjoyed every minute with the book, even if some areas have left me wanting。If you're familiar with Becky, you'll find her sense of humour throughout, making this a joy to read。 However, there does seem to be a bit of a disjoint between the balance of humour and the seriousness of the subjects being discussed here。 Becky tries to cover all aspects of romance fraud, but some areas are only briefly skirted over - such as the African 'Yahoo boys' and the horrendous crimes tied to their scams。 True, had Becky delved more into the real criminal underbelly here, it would have been a very different book indeed -- but it's something worth exploring。But as for what is here, it's a great overview of the effects, reasons and aftermath of romance fraud。 I loved Becky's own humorous conversations, but I also lapped up the stories of victims, which she retells respectfully and in gripping detail。 While I do wish there was more of a deeper dive, I respect what Becky has done here and I heartily recommend the read for anyone who's either (a) chuckled at one of her tweets in the past or (b) wants to know more about how romance fraud happens。 。。。more

Absolutely superb。 Eases you in with humour and somewhat pathetic interactions from fraudsters who you really can't believe the tenacity of, but then goes on to share the stories of people who did become sadly affected by these horrific vile beings。 Teaches many lessons along the way, and I learned so much about the deeper problem behind it all。 I laughed, I cried, and I was educated。 Everyone needs to read this book and stamp this problem out。 Bravo Becky, for doing the work for us and for gett Absolutely superb。 Eases you in with humour and somewhat pathetic interactions from fraudsters who you really can't believe the tenacity of, but then goes on to share the stories of people who did become sadly affected by these horrific vile beings。 Teaches many lessons along the way, and I learned so much about the deeper problem behind it all。 I laughed, I cried, and I was educated。 Everyone needs to read this book and stamp this problem out。 Bravo Becky, for doing the work for us and for getting this out there。 You are an angel。 。。。more

Can one call a book on online romance scams lighthearted? Mayhaps。Very British in its scope and not particularly investigative, nonetheless, a very interesting book from a case study and overview perspective。 Also A+ trolling of fraudulent social media accounts, Becky Holmes。Eye-opening but mainly entertaining。
